Rumbullion! - Magnum 1.5L Bottling Note

After the positively rousing response the Magnum bottles of Ableforth's Bathtub Gin received, they decided to put together some Magnum bottles for their ship-shape spiced rum, Rumbullion! too.

From the first notes on the nose to the final flutter of spice on the finish, Rumbullion! is a flavoursome treat of the highest order. With a core of stupendous high proof Caribbean rum, complimented by Madagascan vanilla and vibrant orange peel, to which a handful of cassia and cloves with a touch of cardamom are added, the result is a hearty tipple well suited to cocktails, mixed drinks or sipping over ice.

As ever, Ableforth's Rumbullion! is presented wrapped in brown paper, wound with twine and sealed with black wax. But now the bottle holds 1.5 litres of Rumbullion! rather than the standard 70cl. Magnum bottles. They're kind of a big deal.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A fabulously decadent nose of intense, sweet vanilla and flamed orange zest. The cardamom makes itself known by offering up an evocative suggestion of old-fashioned cola, and to this the cloves bring out a deep, dark complexity. Yet more sweetness with cinnamon, which melds beautifully with essential oil notes of Seville orange peel.

Palate: At once a fabulous mix of thick cut bitter orange marmalade and tingling, zinging spices. Hints of Manuka honey and mouth-watering cinnamon form its heart, with molasses, candy floss, toffee apples, crème brûlée and clove-studded oranges.

Finish: A long finish, with tongue-prickling spices, and a stunning degree of freshness as cinnamon, orange and creamy, sweet vanilla notes coat the palate for minutes.

Overall: Rich and profoundly intense, this is a rum to see you through the coldest months.

Cocktail O'Clock and Doorstops

I love it straight-up sipping, on the rocks and in cocktails, both daiquiri's and mai-tais are always a winner with my guests when Rumbullion is the base. So don't mess about 1.5l is the way to go and they are really cool doorstops once consumed. ;-)

Magnificent

Not usually one for drinking dark spirits neat. But this is just delightful. Smooth, complex fruit and spice flavours with a treacle like warmth. Delicious.

The best spiced rum on the market. Period.

After drinking my through over 100 spiced rums, the original Rumbullion is still my favourite so this magnum bottle takes center stage on my rum shelves.
