Lowland Single Malt Whisky

The Lowlands is a region of more gentle, floral whiskies. Their single malt distilleries have earned the nickname "The Lowland Ladies". In this region, triple distillation is preferred, which makes the whisky more delicate. Auchentoshan is perhaps the most famed Lowland distillery, though there are other great distilleries, including Glenkinchieand the recently restarted Bladnoch. Rosebank and Ladyburn, meanwhile, are sadly defunct distilleries that earned great reputations for their superb whiskies.

A 12 year old from Auchentoshan, this was aged in European oak Fino sherry barrels before bottling 2010. The results are creamy and very fruity, and at cask strength there's a lot going on.  More info

Distilled on the 19th December 1990, and aged in hogshead 5767 for 20 years. Just imagine a 20 year old single cask, cask strength whisky from the distillery, at this price. Good heavens!  More info

A recently released bourbon cask matured Auchentoshan, distilled in 1978, matured for 30 years and bottled at cask strength in 2009 as part of a release of 480 bottles.  More info
This was distilled at Auchentoshan in 1999, and aged in top quality sherry wood for 12 years. It was taken to Bruichladdich, where it was bottled in 2011, giving an outturn of 2,100 bottles.  More info
A release of just 500 bottles, distilled at Auchentoshan in 1975 and aged for a whopping 35 years in bourbon oak. A huge, toffee-rich whisky.  More info
