The World's Best Cocktail
Made using a 50:50 mix of rye-rich Bourbon and VSOP Cognac, naturally sweetened, with a healthy dose of Peychaud’s bitters and just a splash of Absinthe, this superb cocktail has been expertly blended in ultra-small batches by those handsome devils at the Handmade Cocktail Company.
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a twist of lemon peel). Each bottle carries a subtle set of roman numerals in the top right-hand corner indicating the year that the cocktail was ‘born’.
Whether this cocktail should be made with Cognac or Rye has been the subject of much debate over the years; this bottling uses a 50:50 mix to very pleasing effect.
Has potential, but is cloying.
This is an interesting take on one of my favorite cocktails, but as it stands, it's way too sweet. If the sweetness was cut down significantly, this would be extremely enjoyable. But right now, I don't think I'm going to be able to finish the bottle without making some changes.
