The Handmade Cocktail Company's Vesper is perfect for enjoying at home, far away from hat-throwing-henchmen and the like (Who throws a hat? Honestly?). Originally created by Britain's favourite secret agent, the Vesper is a twist on the Gin Martini, made with English gin, vodka, vermouth and aromatic wines.

The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir (Don't shake - that would be madness - just don't tell him we said that), then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a twist of lemon). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Dry, juniper-led nose with tangy light citrus and hints of geraniums, cream soda, cereal, sage and a little grating of nutmeg.

Palate: Tangy, tart palate with an abundance of crisp, zinging lemon zest top notes. Becomes rather floral with more of those geranium notes, alongside hints of rose petals. Pleasingly perfumed and quite oily with a tangy, olive-like note.

Finish: Long, herbal cream soda finish with a hint of almond on the tail.

Overall: Fresh, fragrant and delightfully herbal.

Superb for any time of day

Delicious, good warm on it's own and shines over ice. Highly recommend to anyone with a slight sweet tooth. It's lightly aromatic and sweet without being cloying. Lovely.

It IS a good drink

Was very sceptical of this at the start, as it's really just a martini with extra vodka in (what's the point?) - the extra aromatic wine (it can't be Kina) adds something else truly magical to it.
