From the Douro region comes Founders Reserve Port, named in honour of the founder of Sandeman, so you can be sure it's pretty special. Made from grapes hand-harvested from old vines, the ruby Port is then aged in oak. It makes for a brilliant postprandial sipper alongside rich chocolate desserts.
Well-structured tannins, with forest fruit jam, tart damson, dark chocolate and fresh plum.
I've been buying this port for the pub since a customer recommended it. I like it myself and it always sells well. I felt compelled to leave a good review as the previous review, in my opinion, didn't do it justice.
Opened this bottle last week it didn't last the night, two of us were drinking this and both of us really loved the taste. It wasn't overly sweet and had fruity high notes with a lingering after taste of cherries and for the price it's an affordable beverage.
The bottle states 'Serve Chilled' which to me is odd for a port. It’s not too bad if taken normally but it’s far from the best if taken chilled or over ice. I poured it down the sink. If you’re after a good port, keep looking. That said it’s cheap enough but I’ll stick with Fletchers 40 yr old.
