Niepoort 2000 37.5% Bottling Note

Colheitas are typically bottled with 10 years of ageing in wood at Niepoort - but this Colheita 2000 is an exception. In order to attain the desired balance in its evolution, it was decided that this edition deserved some more time.

The master blender dictated that 2014 was the appropriate year to begin bottling the tawny port, and the process of transferring it from the 550 litre pipes in the Vila Nova de Gaia cellars it matured in, began.

The grapes chosen for this Colheita Port were cultivated from a single harvest, with the following varieties: Tinta Amarela, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão - which were trodden in lagares at Vale de Mendiz winery.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Full and intense, with rich plum, herbal notes, caramel and spicy tannins.
