Nelstrop's PX (2017) Bottling Note

A fortified wine that doesn't fit easily into any classification. The base is some Pedro Ximénez sherry (this is the supersweet kind made from dried grapes). It's shipped over to England in wooden casks, and then after some time in the wood, the wine is drained off, and the sherry-infused casks are used to mature whisky. But what to do with all that wood-infused PX? Well, why not add some English single malt whisky and bottle it up! That's exactly what they have done at the English Whisky Company in Norfolk. The result is Christmas pudding in a glass.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Dried fruit obviously, raisins, a bit of orange peel, vanilla spicy, rich, and very very sweet with a lovely malty kick of whisky at the end. Fearsomely decadent, just the thing to keep out the winter cold.
