Hard seltzers have absolutely burst onto the scene in the last few years, catapulting across the pond from the USA. The name is cool, no doubt, but what exactly are they? To put it simply, a hard seltzer is alcoholic flavoured water, and it’s usually carbonated. Seltzer water is, of course, the name for soda water in the US, so that makes perfect sense.
Now, over this side of the Atlantic big brands and craft distilleries have caught onto the trend. The simple serve captured everyone’s attention because of its low calorie count, approachable ABV, crisp flavours and convenient packaging. There’s no specific spirit that is used in a hard seltzer, so there’s choices galore. Spirits and soda (sorry, seltzer) never looked so good!
