The Wrecking Coast Gin Bottling Note

To create this exciting gin, The Wrecking Coast distillery in Tintagel macerate 12 botanicals in grain spirit for a fortnight before running through a computer controlled iStill (no, really). Meanwhile, the signature botanical, Cornish clotted cream, is cold distilled in a vacuum still before the two spirits are blended together!

Though clotted cream adds a creamy depth to the spirit, the prominent flavours are of wonderful garden-y floral notes and peppery spice. Recommended serves are either neat over ice or with tonic, strawberries and lime.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

A creamy mouthfeel carries notes of vibrant, earthy juniper, vanilla pod and honeyed floral. Hints of angelica root and peppercorn stick around in the background.

Wrecking Coast Cornish Clotted Cream Gin Reviews

Try it neat over ice or a splash of tonic strawberries and mint

I've had a miniature of this gin and I would certainly buy a large bottle. The fragrance and near taste is like no gin I've had yet, unique to me and delightful. The mint and strawberries as per the serving suggestion really compliments the herby/vegetal flavour. There are mixed reviews for this gin, perhaps some expect a cream flavoured liqueur which it certainly is not.

Use in a martini

Best way to enjoy this is in a Martini. No frills. Just the gin and a splash of extra dry vermouth. No twist. No olives. As cold as you can make it and enjoy.

Not for me....

I got bought a bottle for my birthday.
Tried mixing (Seperately) with tonic , elder flower tonic, strawberry juice, lemonad and ginger ale, but nothing worked! Not for me! Some serving suggestions needed!! Sorry!

Fantastic gin!

Best gin ever - and I have tried quite a few! Don't drown it in tonic or else you lose the flavour.

21st March 2020

One of the best!

Fantastic sipping gin, just serve with ice for the complete flavour.

Honestly don’t bother

This is quite comfortably the worst Gin I have ever tasted that is trying to jump on the craft gin bandwagon. Take my advice and do not waste your money

Strawberried and Cream with a difference !

I was not at all sure about the 'clotted cream' bit. However having tried it is now a firm favourite. How on earth that lovely creamy after taste is achieved I dont know but it adds that interesting twist to some lovely fresh bold flavours. Served with sliced strawberry ice and Elderflower tonic -just divine.

Not what I was expecting but loved it

A full flavoured gin. Smooth with plenty of gin flavour in the mouth. Amazing with strawberries and my favourite Fever Tree!

10th June 2019

Sub par to say the least

Couldn’t work out how the cream was relevant. Zero flavour just a below average attempt at craft gin

31st May 2019

Not great....

Not a fan of this gin. Tastes more of a garden than clotted cream. Not a fan. Will stick with glittery unicorn.

25th May 2019

A gin to die for

Best gin I have ever tasted

6th January 2019

Oily mouth feel no clotted cream

Whose paying for these reviews no hint of clotted cream at all. A distinctly inferior oily gin.

31st December 2018

Very different: a proper craft gin: because you're worth it.

I want MORE

15th December 2018

Don't get all the fuss

Wouldn't rank as one of my favourites, but it's slightly quirky & not entirely unpleasant. As with earlier reviwer ... I didn't "get" any clotted cream

13th November 2018

Smooth and refreshing

Absolutely loved this - didn't expect to! Very gentle flavour that builds up as you drink it. Used Fever Tree tonic and fresh strawberries.

9th November 2018

Surprising mixer result!

We found that any kind of tonic totally kills the hint of clotted cream. The best mixer to use with this gin is Summer Fruits flavoured sparkling water from Tesco or Aldi: both bring out the rich creaminess that we were hoping to get from this gin!! Add some ice and a couple of halved strawberries and it is a gorgeously drinkable glassful.

4th November 2018

Beyond amazing!

May not have the clotted cream taste but this is incredible! I think it adds to the smooth finish and the lingering flavours are out of this world! It’s my new favourite and, for a massive gin drinker, that’s saying something!

30th September 2018

Where's the clotted cream?!

I don't see what others see in this gin. I get no clotted cream at all. I've tried it with fever tree tonic and others as well as with fresh strawberries as others have mentioned. No luck. It's quite bitter and oily. Expensive mistake :(

12th September 2018

A Cornish Cream Tea gin.

Quickly becomes a favourite. Smooth, so smooth, sweet, and inviting a garnish of fresh strawberry, and a vanilla pod to stir. Excellent with Fevertree Light tonic, but also with Luscombe Madagascan Vanilla Soda, strawberry, a couple of crushed pink peppercorns, and basil.

3rd September 2018

Very smooth and clear

Very smooth and clear. There's a hint of clotted cream, but not as much as I thought there might be.

20th August 2018

Lovely gin very smooth you can even taste the clotted cream. This is my second bottle that I have bought.

7th July 2018

Full of flavour

Back for my second bottle! Love the spicy flavours and the smoothness. On a hot day with tonic and strawberries its near damn perfect.

29th June 2018

Smooth and warming

I've had this a few times now and really like it. Before tasting it, some of the people I'd shared it with were expecting it to be sweet - but the clotted cream somehow makes the drink incredibly smooth. Great with tonic and a strawberry garnish but so smooth you can have it just over ice if the mood takes you.

18th May 2018

Smooth and full of flavour

Love it. Smooth but the flavours are bold. A must have in my books!

18th May 2018

What's the point

The gimmick of clotted cream has no relevance to this gin at all. It is simply a stronger gin with not much else going on.

10th May 2018

A real treat...

Received as a present over Christmas this gin just keeps giving. Really smooth with some warmth coming through. Clotted Cream is there but it's still very much a gin. Will become one of my 'treats' for sure.

23rd January 2018

Can't make my mind up...

This tastes very floral, finding it hard to get the clotted cream. Still, a nice summery gin!

14th January 2018

Different and worth trying

Interesting and not without its place in a gin collection. Definitely can taste the clotted cream. Nice with elderflower tonic, raspberries and blueberries.

14th January 2018

An eye opener....a proper sipping gin

Holborn Dining Room opened my mind to this amazing gin. So smooth I actually enjoyed it neat over a rather large ice cube! Excellent

23rd November 2017

Refreshingly different and interchangable for all palates

I had a free sample in Sheppeys of Taunton and just had to have a bottle. As a newby to gin drinking, it certainly was a refreshing and delightful experience. It was great by itself but can be altered and enhanced by changing garnish, flavoured tonic water and so on. My favourite was with fever tree sicillian lemon tonic.

13th November 2017

Very Happily Surprised!

Tried this at The London Gin Club and it was my fave! Great with blueberries and lemon zest with Fever-Tree tonic. Had to buy a bottle!!!

31st October 2017

Delicious and different gin.

Wow! Delicious gin. If you like a sweeter gin but without being over sweet this is amazing. Definitely creamy and smooth. I wondered how it would be with tonic but added Fever Tree and strawberries and it did not disappoint. It’s now in my top 5 (and I have over 80 in my cupboard!) Well done Wrecking have surprised and delighted me!

20th October 2017

Not too sweet like some trendy gins, it’s a real treat

Had first taste of this gin in tintagel and absolutely love it can’t wait to share with my friends

16th October 2017

A unique tasting Gin

I tried it with Strawberries and Fever-Tree Tonic water, not what I expected in a good way!
Very smooth in taste and feeling in the mouth. Too easy to have more than one 😬

27th July 2017

Perfect Summer Gin!

Finally got around to opening this last night to try and will back summer and it was incredible!! The sweet flavour is just delicate enough to make it different to most other gins I have tried. With some strawberries added to it, the combination left me wanting more and more!!

25th July 2017

Smooth and delicious: a revelation

Oh my goodness, absolutely fabulous! As recommended, had it with a strawberry in it and a decent tonic. I've had *ahem* a few g&ts in my time but I've genuinely never had such a smooth one. The cited clotted cream really comes through - and it's so smooth that we tried it as a "sipping gin", just over ice, and it was sublime. Thoroughly recommended but beware: it may spoil all other gins for you!

24th July 2017

Sublime in every way

This is an utterly amazing drink. Have it with a strawberry and a good tonic, and you may very well never drink a different gin again. Also, drinking neat over ice is an experience that only leaves you wanting more. I'm unlikely to put it any kind of cocktail for fear of spoiling the delight of having "normally".

24th July 2017

Yuk! Oily and cloying....
