Oxford Artisan Dry Gin Bottling Note

The Oxford Artisan Distillery was founded by Tom Nicolson in the historical city of Oxford, making it the first, legal gin distillery in the 'city of dreaming spires'!

The first gin release from these intrepid distillers is made with ancient populations of heritage grain grown exclusively on organic farms within a 50 mile radius of the site. Truly a local spirit.

It was distilled in two, handmade, purpose built stills, Nautilus (2,200 litre) and Nemo (500 litre), which were built by Paul Pridham from South Devon Railway.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Dense pine leaves, fresh coriander and a touch of aromatic cardamom rise over sprightly juniper and tangerine pulp.

Palate: Toasted peppercorn leads before zesty orange rind develops in this juniper-led gin. Syrupy anise and warm menthol provide a smooth underlay.

Finish: Sumptuously long and deep, the syrupiness lingers on the edge of your tongue, while fragrant cardamom and orange oil fade dutifully.

Oxford Artisan Distillery Dry Gin Reviews

Seriously miss understood gin!

Amongst the arms race to pack ‘artisan’ gins with unique and standout botanicals this is a reminder of what a great and classic dry gin can be. It’s a wonderful clean combination of juniper and smooth rye. Nothing else overpowers leaving you with a great G&T (mix up a good double and there’s a hint of a freshly made Martini to your glass). If you came to gin during the Hendrix revolution then it might seem underwhelming but if you’re of an older school I’d heartily recommend trying a bottle.

I loved this gin and love what they stand for!

Amazing Gin made grain to glass, using really sweet populations of ancient grain. Its delicious and great for the planet because they farm/grow using new eco agriculture methods no chemicals! So good for the birds and the bees! Great to see a distillery really trying to make a difference. Go TOAD!

I really wanted to love this gin but it's really nothing special.

I really wanted to love this gin but it's really nothing special.

I picked up this and the rye spirit at their open day, lovely bottles and great presentation.

I don't know if it's variability in the process or trying at a stand vs trying at home, but it has a very strong 'moonshine'ey taste to it... pot still spirit. This masks many of the botanicals for me, which aren't all that prominent. It is billed as a very stock standard entry by the makers, so... fair enough.

The Rye spirit is definitely worth trying, I'd skip the gins next time. It may have been a part of a rough batch, but yeah... at this price point...

A Standard Gin.

Quite a standard gin for the price. Packaging is good but the Botanics are not prominent enough for us.

Excellent flavours - a true gin lovers delight

Excellent gin - there are many new gins on the market, but this one stands out.

nice clean gin, but not really worth the price.

Nice clean gin but not really worth £38.95 - as it's a bit bland in flavour. The botanicals don't really stand out.
