Sipsmith Gin Bottling Note

Produced in the workshop previously used by the late, great Michael Jackson (whisky writer, not Moonwalker), this super-small-batch artisinal Gin is flavoured with restraint, making it easier for the natural quality of the spirit to shine through. Distilled in a marvellously compact pot still / column still combo named Prudence, Sipsmith epitomises distilling on a truly artisinal scale. At the time of her installation, Prudence was the first copper pot still to be brought to life in London for over 200 years.

Tasting Note by the producer, courtesy of Ian Wisniewski

Sipsmith London Dry Gin is distilled with 10 botanicals carefully selected for an even drier balance than a classic London Dry Gin.

Nose: Floral, summer meadow notes, followed by mellow rounded juniper and zesty, citrus freshness.

Palate: Gentle mouthfeel, with initial dry juniper joined by growing sweetness, showing lemon tart & orange marmalade, garnished by a wave of fresh lemon zest, followed by bolder juniper & light dryness, before all the flavours harmonise into one integrated taste.

Finish: Dryness leads, with spicy juniper & a hint of lemon tart emerging.

Sipsmith London Dry Gin Reviews

I'm a convert after years of Bombay Sapphire. Love it.

Old Faithful

Would never be without. Readily available, often discounted and even at full price, a quality gin thats value for money. An easy go to for an enjoyable G&T. Think this works a treat with a slice of lime, which enhances it to above ordinary.

Good to Fair

Rather disappointed especially at the price paid , I feel as though I have wasted my money. Nothing special to other Gins I have tasted in the past at a much cheaper price tag. I was really looking forward to something that little bit more special after paying so much for it.

A cut above the ordinary

A classic dry London Gin which is a cut above the ordinary. Juniper and citrus are dominant and the finish is a long one. Great in a G&T with a good quality tonic. Value for money so a good cocktail base also.

Great and easy to sip

One of the most flavoursome I have encountered, I can actually smell and taste the botanical extracts, great as a cocktail gin or a supper, the flavours just shine through.

Well balanced

Very nice, smooth well balanced. Just my kind of gin.

Unique and delicious

So much citrus (lemon, lime, and a touch of bitter grapefruit) that you don't need tonic with this one. Lots of pepper too. Hard to find the right vermouth for this... maybe something more floral is needed. It's nothing like Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray 10, and it's not boring like so many modern small-batch gins. If my VA-ABC keeps it in stock, Sipsmith will be permanently on my shelf.
