From Dartmoor come Papillon Gin, which makes the most of its local botanicals, with gorse flowers, rowan and hawthorn berries, chamomile, nettle, navelwort and Devon violets in there among its 17 botanicals. It not only captures the spirit of Dartmoor, but a percentage of the profits from each bottle is donated to a local butterfly conservation project which protects the local threatened Dartmoor butterflies that feed on wild violets.
Zesty citrus initially, with building aromatic cardamom and gorse, rounded off by a wave of floral notes on the finish.
This is the best of the best! An absolute must. Gin journey over the years and nothing comes close that I've tried yet anyway!
Absolutely delightful - like Lone Wolf (which is also a favourite of mine) but marginally better I think
The tasting notes are spot on, plenty of character and very satisfying high quality gin. Yum.
This is a favourite gin of mine. Initially it has a light, citrus taste and then you finish with a gorgeous rounded botanical flavour from locally picked ingredients such as gorse and violets. I've found that combining it with a Mediterranean or Indian tonic allows the delicate flavours to shine through. Papillon is highly drinkable, and it's a plus being able to be part of butterfly conservation as I'm enjoying it!!
This is my favourite gin EVER! It's incredibly smooth with the most delicate flavours of Violets, Gorse. It's a must try.
