J.J. Whitley Violet Gin Bottling Note

Violet has become a particularly popular flavour within the world of gin, and J.J. Whitley have wasted no time joining in on the fun by launching their very own Violet Gin! The eponymous floral element is combined with a selection of eight additional botanicals along the lines of juniper, coriander, liquorice and angelica, and it boasts a pleasing pink hue.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Citrus blossom blends well with bright violet sweetness, bolstered by soft juniper and a hint of cassia spiciness.

J.J. Whitley Violet Gin Reviews

Disappointing and chemical tasting

Bought from Tesco for £16 for 70cl. Was all excited to try this as I love parmaviolets :) my hubby and I were sooo disappointed! It smells a bit like hairspray, and tastes a lot like ...well ....hairspray :/ we both agree it has a chemical taste and I can’t taste any violet at all! Actually that’s not quite true....there’s an aftertaste that can maybe be likened to parmaviolets but bitter at the same time?? I checked the bottle over before I purchased and there’s no info at all about the botanicals used, so I don’t know if it’s synthetic flavouring that’s added , but in any case it’s not for us. Even reading the description here, it says there’s a selection of eight botanicals ‘along the lines of...’ and then names 4 of the ones that it’s ‘along the lines of....hmm, if that was printed on the bottle I’d never have bought it. See description of violet gin above and you’ll see what I mean! £16 wasted, but at least we tried it at a decent price.

Lovely

I was given a bottle of this today by my brother and sister in law as a thank you gift. I love it and having it with tonic and ice and lemon. Is there a different fruit you would recommend to have with this rather than lemon??
