Dr. Squid Gin Bottling Note

Dr. Squid Gin comes to us from the Pocketful of Stones Distillery in Penzance, which was made using a recipe that features real, no-foolin' squid ink! We squid you not! A rather savoury expression, with a coastal feeling to it, along with a few touches of citrus and spice. If that wasn't cool enough, it also turns bright pink when you mix it with tonic! It comes in a copper flask, engraved with all sorts of flora and fauna. It also looks like the eponymous Dr. Squid is on the label...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Savoury kitchen herbs, balanced by fresh lemon zest and meadowsweet.

Palate: Citrus sits at the core, with woody juniper following. Subtly floral at points, and a touch of sea breeze sneaks in later on.

Finish: Spring blossom and pine.

Dr. Squid Gin Reviews

Nearly £50 for a ‘gin’ that smells and tastes like fence paint. Could be petrol in the tin. Avoid. Will be seeking a refund.

Disgusting - smelt like creosote, and tasted like petrol.

Great concept, great packaging, great gin. I’ll certainly be getting a second bottle!

Probably one of the best made gins I’ve ever had! Originally had it as a G&T in my local so didn’t even know about the flask at first, which obviously is something else! Would recommend to everyone!

Looks great. Tastes like methylated spirit. There’s nothing to suggest that this is Gin at all. I cannot detect any of the expected juniper, citrus or woody notes that you would expect. I’m unsure if it is just a bad batch or if has been tainted by the copper flask but unfortunately this is destined to become drain cleaner. I have contacted the distillery but received no reply. An expensive gimmick that is best avoided.

5 star

Cant believe how nice this gin tasted. It was amazing. Bought it for the decorative flask it came in and intended to keep it for a good while. Relatives came to stay and that was it! Polished one in one evening. Absolutely one of the best gins around, in my book.

Lovely New Taste Experience

Wow. This was superb. The taste and texture pleasured the pallet, with a warm after glow.
The bottle is genius.
We drank it neat in shot glasses.
Couldn’t dilute that taste with pap.
Needless to say, we polished it off through the evening. And guess what…
No headache.

Fantastic gin with a little ‘theatre’ involved too....what is there not to like. All our friends loved the colour changes from blue/grey then over ice changes to more blue then to a green hue....then the tonic changes it to Pink wow what a star of the show...The receptacle is a great work of art...2 more please guys😉😉👍
