Cotswolds Dry Gin

The Cotswolds Distillery in Stourton is up and running - hooray! This is their Cotswolds Dry Gin, made with juniper, coriander and angelica root macerated in their pure wheat spirit for 24 hours. Following this, they add a botanical selection including bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper, cardamom seed and Cotswolds lavender to their carter head still for distillation. To bring it down to bottling strength, a robust 46% ABV, they use naturally refined Cotswolds water.

The Cotswolds Distillery also released its own single malt whisky in 2017 - so you can get your hands on a bottle now!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Light, floral juniper blends well with the Cotswolds lavender. This soon gives way to the vibrant grapefruit peel and warming cardamom.

Palate Opening with grapefruit, fresh juniper and black pepper, followed by herbaceous notes of bay leaf, coriander and angelica. More lavender brings a bright, delicate character to the full-bodied gin.

Finish Refreshingly clean on the palate, with lime and bay leaf.

My favourite gin by far. A wonderful combination of botanicals. A good price too.

Five stars
By far my favourite modern gin, love the cloudy aspect and also the richness, brill as a G&T but i personally like it most in a Dirty Martini

Stunning
I am not really a gin drinker, but the botanicals make this very special.

Best Gin bar (almost) none
I don't drink a lot of gin but tried this at the distillery yesterday and loved it and bought a bottle The lavender is really evident on the nose and it has an excellent flavour either neat or mixed with the uniper evident but not dominant. The non-chill filtration means you get a light bloom in your drink with ice & tonic which is a nice twist. Wished I had waited to get home and order a botlle from MoM - £35 at this distillery! Only Jin Talog Bay leaf gin has beaten this for me.

smooth and light but little taste
I've been trying a few of the gins using the 3cl samples (great fun!). I find this one is smooth but too light and subtle for me. Very easy to drink but no so satisfying.
