In a small 4-hectare estate located in the Falset district, two renowned names in the world of wine world came together to create Venus La Universal in 1999. The collaboration is made up of the husband and wife team of René Barbier, the 4th in a generation of wine producers at Clos Mogador who has amassed more than 20 years of experience, and oenologist Sara Pérez, who also the daughter of Mas Martinet owner Josep Lluís Pérez.
Characterised by a strict adherence to the principles of organic agriculture and respect for the environment, the two only use organic fertilisers and phytosanitary treatments for its yeasts. The four hectares of Venus La Universal vineyards have acidic soils and the fruit it produces is made into fresh, elegant and markedly Mediterranean wines. Its bottlings are named after mythical goddesses and heroines, hence Venus.
