Prában na Linne

Established in 1976, Pràban Na Linne translates from Gaelic as ‘shebeen of the firth’ (a shebeen being an illicit drinking den). A flying start for a Scotch whisky brand. It was in 1976 that Sir Iain Noble, a Scottish entrepreneur and passionate advocate of the Gaelic language and its importance to the Highlands and Islands, purchased 20,000 acres of Skye, plus a hotel at Isle Ornsay for £120,000. Pràban Na Linne’s headquarters are based on southern Skye, and all three brands from the independent bottler boast Gaelic names.
