One of the older names from the new wave of Spanish whisky makers, Haran has been around for decades now. Located in the Basque Country, the word Haran means valley and was inspired by one of the most beautiful local natural sports, the Ayala Valley, where the Destilerías Acha has been making spirit since 1831. Whiskey Haran is actually based on an old recipe from 1880, mirroring the use of peat in that era by using modern smoking techniques and slow-fire drying of oak wood to dry the malt.
