Greenall's Gin

It was all the way back in 1761 that Thomas Dakin began distilling his original gin at the tender age of 25. Working out of a property he had purchased in Bridge Street, Warrington, Dakin founded what is now the oldest continuous gin distillery in the world, G&J Distillers. Since then, only seven master distillers have overseen the crafting of G&J Distillers spirits, and each have maintained traditional methods and paired them expertly with modern bottling and logistics facilities.

The current Greenall’s Gin master distiller is Joanne Moore, who became one of the first female master gin distillers in the world when she was appointed in 2006. Since taking up the reins, she has overseen the creation of four international gin brands: Berkeley Square, Bloom, Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin and Thomas Dakin Manchester Gin, and has led the way for an exciting new era at the legendary distillery. Moore achieved this while she continued to manage and supervise the distillation of a number of original brands, including Greenall’s classic Original London Dry Gin, which remains at the forefront of the extensive Greenall’s line.

In 2017, Greenall’s Gin introduced a new bottle design that was inspired by the shape of original gin bottles from the 1700s, celebrating Greenall’s proud history and rich heritage. Each bottle carries an embossing of the spirit’s birth date – 1761 – plus Edward Greenall’s signature, the Greenall’s crest, and a print of a hand-stitched Union Jack.

Greenall’s Gin is one of the fastest growing gin brands in the world and is now available in over 140 countries. It changed ownership in August 2011 after Quintessential Brands added the brand to its growing portfolio, and its reputation for high-quality gins and other spirits continues to this day.
