Château de Castex

Lovers of Bordeaux will know the significance of the 1855 Paris Exhibition, where wines were ranked from first to fifth growths, or crus. Well Château de Castex was ranked Premier Grand Cru du Bas-Armagnac at both the 1855 and 1856 exhibitions. Impressive stuff.

Bottled by the distillery as a vintage, and never before 15 years old, Château de Castex d'Armagnac has been produced for over two hundred years from a white wine made from Ugni blanc, Baco and Colombard grapes distilled in their 19th century continuous 'alambic'.
