Launched in 2014, Bobby’s Gin is named after grandfather, Jacobus Alfons, known to his friends and family as Bob or Bobby. He migrated from Indonesia to the Netherlands in 1950, and began infusing Dutch genever with the familiar taste of home, which was the humble beginnings of Bobby’s Dry Gin.
Fast forward a few years to 2012, and it was then that his grandson Sebastiaan van Bokkel found an old bottle of this Indonesian-Dutch fusion. He was inspired by the story, having wanted to create his own spirit for a while. He met with the seventh generation master distiller of Herman Jansen, and they began working together. After two years, the final product was finally born. The packaging sees a modern reinterpretation of a classic genever bottle adorned with a traditional Indonesian Ikat pattern.
