Though Ireland is traditionally known for its whiskeys, it also produces some excellent gins. Some like Dingle Gin, were made while the distillery was waiting for its whiskey to mature. Dingle Gin has gone on to be judged the best gin in the world at the World Whisky Awards. Other notable producers include Boatyard, Drumshanbo and Blood Monkey.
Some Irish gins use native flora as botanicals such as rowan berry, sea kelp, heather, bog myrtle, and shamrock foraged from the lush Irish countryside and coastline.
