Richard Delisle 1965 Bottling Note

A vintage Fins Bois Cognac, produced by the Richard Delisle house. This is the 1965 vintage from over 45 years ago, quite an achievement indeed. It has also been kept at a very high ABV for a Cognac, sitting at 60.4%, so be prepared for an intense spirit and don't stick your nose too far into the snifter!

Richard Delisle Vintage 1965 Fins Bois Cognac Reviews

The best night cap in the world.

I bought a bottle of this wonderful cognac in 2013 and had to hide it away from view for nearly two years (to resist temptation) until 2015 the year of my 50th birthday. Well the moment came to open this bottle of cognac at 00.05 March the 11th my birthday. The cork was removed and my nose went carefully to the rim of the bottle. The aroma was intense and deep, fruity but a bit of a sting because of the alcohol content. I poured some in to a cognac glass and decided to add some water. Water you may ask, but like any good malt whisky this not only releases the flavour, but enhances the aroma and tempers the burn of the alcohol. As this was my 50th birthday my night cap was a large measure of this exquisite cognac gently warmed in my hands and sipped over the next hour. Sublime.
