The term XO was coined for this very Cognac by Maurice Hennessy in the 19th Century. This blend includes over 100 eaux-de-vie.
Nose: Rich, full-bodied with dark dried fruit notes. Dates, plums, sultana.
Palate: Poised, rich, cocoa, dried fruits, nutty.
Finish: Caramel, custard and oak.

Nothing special at all, and no way does it taste 4 times better than Hennessy VSOP (just saying that as it is 4 times more costly). Prefer Courvoisier XO by a long chalk. Still, cognac is the boy though. And i am just one human, so my opinion alone is just that and potentially meaningless to another.

Whom ever compared this to the dom perignon of cognacs obviously has no idea what he is on about. I have tried the other cognacs he has mentioned and are like paint/throat stripper in comparrison. Do not be put off by ignorance. This is like velvet and far more complex than most on the market.

Does not compare well to B. de Gensac VSOP or Martell of the same age or even Remy, if you are into run of the mill Cognacs. The nose is woody with some recessed sweetness , but overall a very weak nose for any Cognac. Taste is exactly the same as a nose, woody with some fruit. No complexity no power just a below average Cognac that has been marketed very well indeed. My comparison to DP is due to the same effect DP brand has on average consumer. If it is (.....insert the commercial brand....) it must be drink of rich and famous= good. Guess again. Hennessy XO is a total let down, especially at the retail price. Try D. Bouju, Audry, Thorin or Tesseron instead.

Hennessy XO is perfect for savouring on a cold winter's night in front of a wood fire. It is deliciously smooth and warming without the sharp hit at the back of the throat that you get with some cheaper Cognac's.

i love this with coke zero. the coke isn't as sweet as normal full fat so doesn't over power the drink......... calm down i'm not that heathen. one of my favoured tipples when notin the mood for a single malt.

Hi there! As it's a blend, it doesn't have a specific year as such, but what we can tell you is that it's a least 6 years old. --The Chaps at Master of Malt

Just took it for the first time. Its mellow, with a rich taste. Soft on the palate. I'd take it anytime.

I first sampled this elixir some 30 years ago on a holiday trip to the Bordeaux region which coincided with my 21st.We enjoyed the Peter Ustinov narrated documentary on the history and a trip to the storage facilities where the heady scent filled your brain with the delight to come of the tasting!I have since educated many friends to this magnificent brand.May have to take a bottle with me to the afterlife!St John Bevan

I got a bottle of Hennessy X.O. Couple years ago for a friends birthday. When we opened it, it was amazing! It's warm and inviting, the taste is was everything that was promised and for some reason it reminds me of Christmas. I can't wait to get my own bottle and I have become a huge fan of the Hennessy brand.
