Godet Antarctica Bottling Note

An amazing little Cognac from Godet, aged for 7 years in old oak, before being naturally filtered, resulting in a very light, pale hue. Godet Antarctica is distilled from the Folle Blanche grape and it is meant to be served straight from the freezer!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Floral, hints of caramel sweetness, chamomile, a hint of juniper, some dried apricot.

Palate: Good sweetness, dried fruits, a little chamomile again, sultana and orange blossom.

Finish: Full, spicy and juniper-rich.

Godet Antarctica Reviews

Eh, really?

"...meant to be served straight from the freezer!" - doesn't this tell you everything you need to know? Are the kitchy bottles, heavy chill-filtration and caramel E150, Boisé (wood chip extract added to most mainstream cognacs) and sweeteners - aren't all those enough? Now this gimmick? I would be very interested in trying unaged eaux-de-vie from different crus as part of learning about Cognac but this noble spirit is already so pathetically bastardized and commercialized... give me a break!

Meanwhile, for a delicious unaged crystal clear grape brandy try Pisco from Peru. Tastes like a fresh cluster of green grapes :)

More likely a grappa than cognac

Tastes well, but definitely not a 'cognac'. More likely a 'eau de vie', grape made vodka. This explains its smoothness and sweetness compared to real cognac. there were speculations that French authorities forbade this 'cognac' as it is not really a cognac and does not comply requirements.

Going through Antartica withdrawals

It's awesome...I tried one bottle, loved it. Then purchased the last two bottles from the store...now I am told no more distribution...why is it so hard to find in Miami, Florida...can you direct me to where I can purchase some? Please invest in the South Florida area.

Surprising

A juicy, fresh offering from Godet. Contrary to their serving suggestion I'd say it suits a rock serve better. The flavours contained in this little bottle are fruity, deep and sweet without being cloying. A great short serve but a strange bottle size for the price.
