François Voyer Grapevine Bottling Note

Single cask, independently bottled Cognac - a rare and exciting sight! This Grande Champagne Cognac comes from François Voyer, and was independently bottled for La Maison du Whisky's Through The Grapevine range.

Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose: Ample, generous. Initially, the glass literally explodes with juicy orange and mango. Then notes of gingerbread, tobacco and furniture polish impart a sensation of great maturity. Balsamic, the aromatic palette is gradually covered by spearmint and chlorophyll. The magnificent terroir of Grande Champagne expresses itself to the full. Both fresh and powerful, the nose becomes increasingly floral (honeysuckle, hawthorn) and spicy (curry).

Palate: Dense, complex. Incredibly exotic (persimmon, mango, passion fruit), the attack also has phenomenally mellow notes of vanilla. The mid-palate is elegantly spicy (saffron, cardamom) and fruity (blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry). Lingers with notes of coffee and black tea. Then dates and rose petals bring a pleasant oriental dimension.

Finish: Long, silky. Its mouthfeel is very delicate and the quince jelly offered up is quite simply divine. Creamy skin tannins gradually yet quite clearly evoke grapes. The retro-nasal olfaction unveils notes of grated ginger, roasted fig and incense. The empty glass wavers between fruit, precious wood and noble spices.
