Metaxa AEN 2008 Bottling Note

Metaxa AEN was released in celebration of the 120th birthday of the Greek brandy, made with a blend of spirits aged up to 80 years. The decanters are filled from their cask #1, known as the Spyros Cask (named after the Metaxa founder, Metaxa Spyros), which has been used for more than 80 years for blending. It's traditional for the Metaxa master blender to assess his blends and at the start of every year, choose some exceptional spirits aged for at least 20 years and transfer them into this legendary cask.

This special release was limited to 1,888 beautiful decanters, along with a presentation case and a fancy stopper.

Metaxa AEN 2008 Reviews

One bottle a thousands words

Eveybody in the wine business knows that Greek wines are the best since they come from a tradition that spans eons and from a country that invented winery..
Climate conditions and soil quality are serious factors to this coupled together today with modern scientific and traditional methods of wine making .
Sadly they are deliberately underrated for obvious reasons..
No one wants to lose face or money especially from not well established brands from an obscure country that will make them look like fools .
Hence distribution is hampered by monopolies or is a mess and publicity is nonexistent.
Reviews are also subject to a subtle degree of contempt so don't expect much from those either.
People do not like to admit their inferiority to anyone or anything privately or collectively as a country of origin.
Some special reserve specimens like this one make famous French wines and cognacs taste like vinegar in comparison no matter how much they cost ..
I am positive that even specimina that cost twice as much offer less.
This is wine making masterclass only for the gifted connoisseur who can appreciate it and interpret it adequately.
The masses can gargle all the other known brands and hail them as superior for all i care ..

Wow!

I'm a huge fan of Metaxa and only wish one could saver the taste of this one, I mean 80 years old wow ! . I couldn't afford this in a million years so probably will just have to dream of how good this would taste and hope that my prayers are answered (and wish) in hopes that #WhiskySanta will make my dreams come true. I would cherish this with adornment !
