KWV Brandy Bottling Note

South African Brandy from KMV made out of grapes from the Cape and distilled in copper pot stills. Matured in oak, this offers something different from the French offerings, for the brandy-lover looking to branch out. Great value for money too, given that it won best brandy in the world for a second time in the 2011 International Spirits Challenge.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Quite light and floral with pronounced citrus and soft fruit notes. Apricots, peaches and red berries.

Palate: Very soft in the mouth but retains a lemon note, that turns to baked peach in syrup shot through with spicy pepper.

Finish: This is where the spice notes come more to the fore but its all very light and restrained.

Overall: A very credible and much cheaper alternative to French brandy, this is light without being unassuming.

KWV Brandy 10 Year Old Reviews

Very big surprise!

Only recently started drinking brandy after visiting a distillery in Barrydale and bought a Joseph Barry 5yr and later on a Van Ryn's 10yr. The KWV 10yr has been in my cupboard for about 5 yrs, got it as a gift. First time I tasted it, it was after having both the other two and I didn't rate it highly. But a few days later I had it on it's own and was very surprised at how much more I could taste in it. Was very rewarding and will deffo buy another bottle now.

As smooth as the more expensive brands on the international market, and more tasteful that a couple of tots will not make the regular drinker inebriated, even though its alcohol content is similar to the other top brands in the world!

The best in the world, as for regular KWV 10 year Brandy and KWV 10 year Liquor Brandy!
Both are very smooth and so tasteful that a second and third glass is normally consumed after dinner each evening!
