Love the thrill of an auction? Us too. Which is why Master of Malt Auctions is back with one final whisky bonanza this side of Christmas, featuring a Lagavulin Feis Ile bottling, 38 year old Royal Salute, and a particularly tasty Talisker from Diageo’s Special Releases way back in 2003…
Ready to rock and roll, team? We’ve got one final fabulous flurry of Master of Malt Auctions bottlings set to go up for auction this side of Christmas. And we reckon there’s a bottling (or ten!) that will take your fancy.
Up for auction from 3pm today until Tuesday evening are ten sensational Scotch whiskies. They are all unusual in some way – either limited edition bottlings, stuff with some serious age, or they were limited to travel retail the first time round. There’s all kinds of tastiness. And bidding gets under way soon!
Master of Malt Auctions is back with another pre-Christmas chance to get your mitts on some deliciously rare and sumptuously unusual bottlings. And you get to set the price!
Hurrah and huzzah! After two successful rounds of lots, Master of Malt Auctions is back with a whole new haul of rare, hard-to-find and highly sought-after boozes. And we’re just in time for you to snap up an incredible bottling for your Christmas table!
Get set for 3pm today – that’s then the proceedings will get under way. And we have got a whole load of goodies for you! 47-year old single grain, rare Scotch single malts, epic bourbons, incredible Port, out-of-this-world rum, and an eye-popping Armagnac… it’s our most mouth-watering line-up yet. And it’s all live until Sunday evening Here’s the squad in full…
Last month we kicked off Master of Malt Auctions, a brand-new way to snap up incredible bottlings at delicious prices. Now we’re back with another haul of extraordinary booze!
Cast your mind back a mere two weeks. We kicked off Master of Malt Auctions with a bang, with you setting the prices on a bunch of glorious whiskies, including Littlemill 27 Year Old – Private Cellar Edition 2017, Glen Grant 1970 and Bladnoch 29 Year Old – Bicentennial Release! The time has come for round 2 and a fresh batch of incredibly exciting spirits!
From 3pm today, we will go live with these particularly appealing bottlings, spanning sensational Scotch whiskies, hard-to-find Irish whiskey expressions, a highly sought-after English whisky release, and even a delectable rhum Agricole. Hurrah!
Here’s why we think whisky auctions are great – and why you’re about to see loads more of them on Master of Malt!
For the love of great drinks. That’s why the top team here at MoM Towers got into the whisky game. And that’s why we keep striving to bring you the most delicious products, money-can’t-buy competition experiences and the news views shaping all things booze.
Which is also why we’re about to kick off a whole host of product auctions, with many an incredible bottling about to hit the lot spotlight. We’re talking a 1953 Glenfarclas, a Tomintoul 40 Year Old, and even Glen Mhor 50 Year Old 1965 (cask 3934) – Cask Strength Collection Rare Reserve!
Fans of The Macallan listen up: we’ve only gone and got one bottle of The Macallan 40 Year Old Sherry Oak and one bottle of The Macallan 50 Year Old! Clearly these are two very exciting single malt Scotch releases, and we’ll be auctioning both here on the site, with everything over RRP being donated to our nominated charity, Malaria No More UK.
So. The Macallan’s super-old expressions are highly sought-after (and are, frankly, exceedingly delicious). 40-year-old and 50-year-old releases just don’t come along every day. These are proper once-in-a-lifetime bottlings from a classic Speyside distillery, and interest is high. So, following on from our The Macallan in Lalique 65 Year Old – Peerless Spirit auction last year (when we raised over £6k for Malaria No More UK!) it’s time for its 40- and 50-year old siblings to take the spotlight!

Hello, fellow whisky lover. You might’ve heard about a little thing called The Yamazaki Mizunara 18 Year Old. Well, we’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on six bottles – and this is what we’re gonna do with ’em.
Want to find out when this is all going down? See the timeline below.
If you’re not sure what all the faff is about, let us explain. This extraordinary bottling is a blend of single malt whiskies aged entirely in Mizunara casks for at least 18 years. Mizunara oak is only found in a few regions in Japan, so it’s pretty hard to come by; it’s also soft and porous, so it’s not particularly great at retaining liquid. Suntory Whisky persevered, and released just 1,000 bottles of this unbelievable whisky worldwide – of which we’re delighted to have six.
To say this bottling is highly sought-after is an understatement. It has an RRP of £1,000, but a quick Google search confirms that it’s going for way more than that already (Think double that price, or even more…), which is why we’ve decided to split our allocation between a 30ml dram lottery, a bottle lottery, and a charity auction.
This has been the case with rarities like this for the past few years (most recently, the hotly-anticipated Buffalo Trace Antique Collection 2017, and before that, the Yamazaki Sherry Cask Release, to name just a few). If you’re wondering what the hell we’re on about, we invite you to read this post for an in-depth explanation.
The enormously popular Buffalo Trace Antique Collection is back for 2017! Once again we’ll be splitting our allocation between a 30ml dram lottery, a bottle lottery, and a charity auction (with profits over RRP donated to Malaria No More UK). After all, we want as many people as possible to taste the good stuff, while doing some good!
To find out when this is all going down, see the timeline below.
As some of you may recall, our ‘first-come-first-serve’ method caused some, erm, drama back in 2015, so last year we decided to implement a brand new system – splitting our entire Buffalo Trace Antique Collection allocation between 30ml drams, bottle lotteries, and charity auctions. That meant hundreds of you had the chance to taste the goods. Because, after all, it exists to be enjoyed!
Thanks to one very, very generous customer, we’ve got our hands on a bottle of Bowmore’s 11 year old Fèis Ìle 2017 release, which we’re auctioning to raise lots of marvellous moolah for our chosen charity, Malaria No More UK!
It’s time for another charity auction, folks! But this time round it’s going down a little bit differently. A wonderfully generous Master of Malt customer by the name of Lala donated a *signed* Bowmore Fèis Ìle 2017 bottle for us to auction and raise funds for Malaria No More UK – and we were more than happy to oblige!

We’ve received an allocation of three bottles of Bowmore Mizunara Cask Finish direct from the supplier, and we’re going to split the bounty between a two-bottle lottery and 30ml drams!
The exciting news that three bottles of the single malt Scotch whisky are currently in stock does come with certain realities. While all of us here at MoM Towers are thrilled the bottles are back, it does mean that, with thousands of interested customers, there will be some disappointed people whatever we do.
Acknowledging the price and availability of the product, we decided that splitting the stock up between a lottery (see timeline below) and drams was the fairest way to proceed. While there’s no age-statement, the whiskies that were blended for this release were distilled in the 1990s (so they are between 15 and 25 years old) and Mizunara is a highly unusual cask finish. Individual bottles are being sold for a considerable price (£1,195.00, RRP). Given this is the case, there will be no auction.
It’s one of the most highly anticipated whisky events of the year – the Diageo Special Releases 2017 series is now available for pre-order!
Last month we revealed details of the 10 whiskies in the Special Releases line-up for 2017 – and the contingent does not disappoint. From the oldest-ever Diageo bottling* to a blended malt featuring all 28 of the drinks group’s operational Scotch distilleries, there’s a whole host of incredible whisky goodness going on.
What’s more, there’s a very exciting addition for 2017. For the first time, Drinks by the Dram has teamed up with Diageo to make all ten of the expressions available through the marvellous medium that is a tasting set. All 10! In a tasting set!! Hallelujah to the whisky gods.
