UPDATE: Congratulations to @SQLCadavre on Twitter (X?!), #WhiskySanta granted their wish so we’re sending them the bottle of Gordon & MacPhail Scapa 34 Year Old 1988 (cask 10586) – Connoisseurs Choice, worth £1,050!

Ho-ho-ho!

Hello again, my friends! Yes, it’s me #WhiskySanta. I’m back. Like vinyl records, classic cocktails, and knitting. Three things I very much enjoy. Working on a scarf at the moment, in case you’re wondering.

What I like even more, however, are Super Wishes: announcing who’s won them, and revealing new showstoppers.

First, let’s say a merry congratulations to the lucky person who bagged a bottle of Camus Extra Elegance. Enjoy, @MarkBilly!

Now to this Monday’s Super Wish: a bottle of Scapa 34 Year Old 1988 (cask 10586) – Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon & MacPhail)!

Worth £1,049.95, this could be yours for free! Just make a wish. That’s all. That’s an even better deal than when I picked up my copy of Led Zeppelin I with turquoise print back in ’69*. Who knew it would be a limited-edition misprint? Well, me obviously. Omniscience isn’t it? But otherwise, it would have been tremendous luck.

People who do know a bit about luck are those ones who’ve tried this whisky. This is a sublime single cask Scotch whisky from the underrated Orkney distillery Scapa. The 1988 vintage single malt was aged for over three decades (moe than ‘a generation’ to humans, although most of my socks are older in truth) in a single bourbon barrel (cask 10586) and then bottled up at 48.5% ABV by Gordon & MacPhail. The good folks at G&M know a fine whisky, so when they say it’s a corker, you can trust them. Like you can trust a good #WhiskySanta scarf to keep you warm this winter… alright I’m being told to move on.
