#WhiskySanta Gives Away The World’s Finest Whisky

Whisky Santa Pug Yamazaki Sherry 2013

Since I began granting one Christmas wish per day, there’s been one product in particular that’s been rather popular on your wishlists. Some chap in a panama hat with fluorescent eyes said it was rather good or something. Not much call for panama hats at the North Pole, you know. Still, if there’s one thing I’ve learned travelling all around the globe every year it’s that it takes all sorts!

To be precise, many of you have been wishing for Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013, which was named World Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2015. Now, unlike myself, the author of this booklet isn’t actually an omniscient supernatural being. (Even if many appear to treat it as if it really were a religious text.) A Sherried winter warmer though, eh? It does sound rather up my street…

World Whisky of the Year Yamazaki Sherry 2013

Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 – 48.0%
World Whisky of the Year – Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2015

The problem was, the chaps at Master of Malt who fulfil the #WhiskySanta wishes didn’t have any of this particular rare single malt in stock! Luckily for them, if there were bottles out there, I naturally knew just where to find them (from a far away supplier, in case you were wondering – Master of Malt never sit on stock). It still wasn’t easy mind, had to break my ‘no flying during the rest of the year’ rule and everything. Caused a right stir when Dunder and Blixem got a bit excited and caused a sonic boom over Kent. Dasher gave them a right earful, but you simply can’t imagine the paperwork that’s involved after an incident like that…

Never mind though, if I can make Christmas 2014 that little bit more special for just one boy or girl (of legal drinking age in their country of residence), then it’s all worth it for Whisky Santa. Once the whisky was secured, it was then simply a case of waiting for one of these popular wishes to inevitably pop up as the winner on a particular day. Well that day is today! Congratulations @thektuck, your Christmas wish has been granted and Master of Malt are sending you a bottle of Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013! (As it turned out, it was her 16th wish for a Yamazaki in November that was chosen! Keep the faith people!)

Basically this, but for a whisky-loving adult.

I also gave some of this popular whisky to the chaps from Drinks by the Dram to turn into 3cl samples, which means I have just enough to give away one dram per day to all of you who are still wishing for the Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 right up until midday (GMT) on 24th December! (Again, to be clear, it really is all gone after that.) So keep those #WhiskySanta wishes on Twitter and Facebook coming in for this, as well as all the wishes for full bottles and you may just get an early pressie yet!

Oh and @thektuck, it would be quite nice if you could put out a small measure of this special Yamazaki in a tasting glass by your fireplace (alongside a carrot and a mince pie) before you go to bed on Christmas Eve. There’s a good girl.

Whisky Santa

P.S. A list of everybody whose wishes have been granted so far and what they wished for can be found at the bottom of my previous blog post.

    Dear Whiskey Santa,
I have been such a good girl (as of now). I have even been practicing nightly leaving out cookies and a splash of Bowmore to prepare for your big night . I have, however, become accustom to the draining the practice glasses with my husband. With all the days of preparation…I may need a refill…. and Yamakazi Sherry Cask 2013 would be a great replacement! Consider this a win-win… the tasting glass will be waiting by the fireplace. See you soon Whiskey Santa!

Need something special to keep me warm this Christmas

  5. Dear Whisky Santa,
What I’d really like for Christmas this year is Yamakazi Sherry Cask Whisky. I haven’t been at all naughty this year honestly (except for that one occasion when I got carried away with a bottle of 10 year old Springbank, oh and that other occasion with a really tasty Macallans, oh and…..). Anyway Whisky Santa, I’ve been really nice because I didn’t keep it all to myself so if you bring me some Yamakazi I’d make sure I shared it and spread the Christmas cheer. Thank you Whisky Santa.

I am looking to get a gift for a good friend of mine getting ready to retire from the US Navy. Admittedly, he has access to much, but I am limited given a recent layoff at age 54. That is one thing I would ask. Thank you.

  7. Jill Hulme says:

I would love to give this to my husband, he really enjoyed the whiskey Advent calendar I bought him last year, the best present he had ever had.

  8. Mark Green says:

    Dear Whisky Santa

I’ve been really good this year, and have purchased lot’s of nice Japanese Whisky from my friends at the Master of Malt (Nikka Taketsura 21, NIkka Coffee Grain, etc) and a nice fancy whisky calendar (hic…). Imagine my disappointment when I found out that someone had stolen all of the Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 (as opposed to the Yakakazi Sherry Cask 2013 mentioned in previous requests above, which is an entirely different beast altogether;) ). I really hope you can bring me some Xmas cheer in my hour of need. I would make a good owner and promise to feed it and take it out for walks when required……

    Yours faithfully
    M Green …hic

  13. sam odell says:

Dear #Whiskysanta, I am a small, lonely whisky-elf, down on his luck and all outta popsicles. I had a toymaking job, but had to leave following an accident involving my little witches fingers, a bottle of bowmore and a reindeer. What i really need is a warm dram to restore my magical powers, so that I may return to Japan and work there in one of Santa’s other, OTHER factories. Masks my wish come truuuuuue! X x

  14. Bente Skovlund says:

Dear Whiskysanta, I am always a good girl and I would love to pass on any gift that you would grant me 🙂

  15. Hellie says:

    Dearest Whiskey Santa

I think I am on your nice list this yule, but i could so easily be persuaded to turn to the dark side and hop on the naughty list if thats what it takes for you to grant my christmas wish.
It would be simply splendid to receive a Ginvent calendar to start the festivities. I am a girl who loves a good gin, or twenty four, and well, there are so many to choose from. I have been trying my hardest to work my way through several merry bottles which i have, of course, purchased from master of malt.
Just imagine my delight , oh to sample a new gin friend every day right up to the big day itself.

    "Chin-Chin" Santa Baby x

I am in in the United States Air Force and will be deploying for 180 days right around the holidays…I’d love to give my girlfriend; who is an avid whiskey lover; something special for the holidays…She will be holding the "fort" down at home when I leave and anything to help put a smile on her face would greatly be appreciated!

    Very Respectfully,

    Steven

  24. SHERYL says:

    Dear Santa,

My husband never asks for anything. He does always make sure everyone else gets what they need.

Last year I ordered a selective dram sampler that was a great surprise to him. It really was a wonderful, unsuspecting gift.
Receiving this would really be a whing-ding! And Santa, you know what a good man he is.

    Pretty please?

    Sheryl

I would just love to taste this after hearing all about it and what is more to get together with a load of friends so that everyone can take part what better way to enjoy than to share that is the spirit" of things looking forward. Gabriel

  26. Alexena Collins says:

Dear Whisky Santa, I’ve been working very hard recently as a self-employed marketing consultant. The last few weeks has meant being holed up in my office, not giving enough attention to my husband and daughter and probably not myself if I am honest. I thought I was a deserving recipient for some Yamazaki, bottle, dram, whatever is going….then I read the thread and saw there are people in the armed forces, so suddenly I dont feel quite so high on the priority list. My wish would be for you to give a a dram to them and a dram to my husband (who you can reach via me 🙂 ) thanks x

  27. #WhiskySanta says:

Ho ho! Look at all these wishes!

It seems I didn’t make it particularly clear in the above blog post (I’m pretty new to all this you know) that you need to make your wishes via Twitter and Facebook using #WhiskySanta!

I’ll include these ones on my list for yesterday, but from now on you’ll need to use the ol’ social media channels I’m afraid.

    Best of luck everybody!

P.S. Must get a proper flag sorted for the North Pole…

  28. LINDA DOBBIE says:

The wishes are great fun to read my fav so far , I saw but didn’t tell & never got his bike,
made me laugh, but hope I can be a winner too , had to sell our 25 year old Macallan distilled 1967 – could do with a nice wee malt to replace it

  29. Chequematebill says:

Santa Baby, I have been bad all year. I do not deserve a nice present from you.

Santa, you know that all of the aforementioned posts are all BS! And that they are trying to sway you and are saying choose wisely grasshopper.

I only wish you a wonderful and safe Holiday Season.

  30. Max says:

    Dear Santa.

Bonjour Cher Père Noël du Whisky!

As a self-employed, that made a long time that I did not take care of me… always running… for pennys at the end… may be because I was a silly boy in an other life, I don’t know or I am still naugty and I do not realize. however, I try to do my best! (I feel like a 8 years boy and to write to Père Noël, is that normal ;-)) However I think I deserve at least a tear of this beverage in order to improve mysself… I promise I will be a good boy!

  43. Daniel says:

    Dear Whisky Santa,

I have been working the bar industry for years and a firm believer in the delightfulness that Japanese whiskies provide my palette with such wonderment.

My father is a keen whiskie afficionado and he turns 50 very soon, the thought of me giving him something so magical for such a milestone birthday and the spirit of Christmas all rolled into one, could make him one happy chap and most of all me being the greatest son of all time. Now Christmas is for sharing and I’m sure everyone in my family will celebrate with a dram of this Japanese nectar.

Please #whiskysanta make a bartenders Christmas.

    Love Daniel

  54. Paaige says:

    Santa,

I have been very good this year! My wish is not for myself, but for someone else who deserves to be treated well. I was traveling and bought my husband Whiskey but when I changed planes, they told me that it wasn’t sealed properly and I couldn’t take it on board. I told them if they gave me a box I would check it, but no. They said it had to be in a suitcase. With only 15 minutes before the doors closed I ran back through the terminal and bought a 150 euro suitcase so that I could bring my husband his Whiskey. I just made it aboard, but now I don’t have enough money to buy him the Premium Whiskey Advent Calendar. If you grant my wish, you will make both of us very happy! PS: He has been good this year too!

  55. Paaige says:

PS: He would love the Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 just as much and we trust you to make the best gift choice for him!

  59. Oliver Win says:

    Dear Santa,

I recently found out about this luxurious elixir, and I was so sad to know that all 18,000 of these Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 went to Europe and not a drop sold to these shores. I am a Brit living in Hong Kong and would dearly love to have such a rare present for my self and friends to share over Christmas, which I could only dream of. With street protests and the city in a poor mood, I would dearly like some to bring a cheer to myself and those close to me.

    Sincerest greetings,

    Oliver
