We’re already a whole week through December, meaning we’ve reached day 7 of Drinks by the Dram’s Whisky Advent Calendar! What’s behind window #7?
A whole week of #WhiskyAdvent has been and gone – the days sure do fly by at this time of year! The big day is most certainly around the corner and Christmas lists are starting to be compiled in earnest for family members who keep asking that classic question – “What do you want for Christmas?” (Good ol’ #WhiskySanta is still granting wishes everyday, too!)
So, how about a taste of something that will be on a lot of Christmas lists? Something packed with more chocolate orange notes than an actual chocolate orange? Well behind window #7 of Drinks by the Dram’s Whisky Advent Calendar is the delicious Dalmore 12 Year Old! Let’s dig in!
Tasting Note for Dalmore 12 Year Old:
Nose: A warm coffee house in Seattle; roasting beans, the oily nuttiness in a fine espresso, there are little notes of malt and cereal and butter from the pastry counter with rich orange from the fruit bowl on the counter.
Palate: Notes of Seville marmalade and triple sec with winter spices and fruitcake. Zesty cocoa and milk chocolate.
Finish: Medium, oranges.
Today we’re having a little peek inside the Irish Whiskey Advent Calendar! If you’ve got yourself one of these, you’ll have been enjoying a whole week of tasty Irish whiskey, and it continues today with the Hyde 10 Year Old No.1 President’s Cask!
Tasting Note for Hyde 10 Year Old No.1 President’s Cask:
Nose: Clean vanilla-y malt notes, swiftly followed by prune and plum sweetness. A hint of spicy cardamom and oak-y warmth develops.
Palate: Juicy Oloroso-drenched raisins, cracked black pepper, gingerbread and some sweet chilli jam.
Finish: Vine peaches, toffee and more dried fruit.
