Behind window #11 of Drinks by the Dram’s Whisky Advent Calendar is a whiskey from across the pond…
Day 11 of #WhiskyAdvent – so close to half way through! It’s time to start compiling the list of approved Christmas movies for watching while moored to the closest seating item you can find after Christmas dinner as a result of too much turkey, cauliflower cheese and Yule log. If your list doesn’t include Big, Die Hard and Bad Santa, please reassess your list immediately.
So, what’s behind window #11 of Drinks by the Dram’s Whisky Advent Calendar? It’s the first bourbon of this year’s calendar – Evan Williams Extra Aged! If you’re one of the folks that have to reassess their Christmas movie list, you’ve got a tasty whiskey to accompany your ruminations. If your list was correct and included Big, Die Hard and Bad Santa, consider this dram a congratulatory treat.
Tasting Note for Evan Williams Extra Aged:
Nose: Caramel apples, spearmint, black pepper. A light hint of corn sits in the background. A slightly spicy kick of clove.
Palate: Raisins and walnuts. Creamy vanilla at the core, with an underpinning hint of vegetal oak. Zesty orange oil.
Finish: Quite spicy, with drying notes of cinnamon bark and pine nuts.
Following that trip to Kentucky, we’re heading south for our bonus peek at another one of Drinks by the Dram’s Advent Calendars – today, it’s the Tequila Advent Calendar! Behind window #11, you’ll be finding a dram of Clase Azul Reposado, which is made with organic agave…
Tasting Note for Clase Azul Resposado:
Nose: Roasted tomato, pomelo, dry earth and a slowly developing note of cedar.
Palate: Vanilla-y and earthy agave notes. A touch of tropical fruit sweetness and honey.
Finish: Subtle mineral notes paired with soft oak warmth.
