About us
You all know Master of Malt, but what’s it like to work for us? Well, as you may have guessed, our culture is one of hard work but great fun. We expect a can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, ability to engage with stakeholders, attention to detail and a refusal to settle for second best. We are a creative, fast-paced, performance-driven but informal place to work and we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for progression and exposure you might struggle to get at fancy corporates. You’ll even get to taste those fine spirits we keep banging on about! As part of a group of companies operating in e-commerce, business consultancy, product & brand development, drinks distribution, and fulfilment there may also be ways you can contribute throughout the entire group.
About the role
We have an immediate requirement for a technical individual to lead our digital marketing efforts, responsible for generating profitable sales revenue from SEO and through a variety of paid search and social channels.
We have skilled copywriters (they didn’t write this bit, honest) who have in-depth product and industry knowledge, and we have a team of incredibly talented web developers. What we need is somebody who brings cutting-edge digital marketing expertise into that mix so that our content is syndicated as widely as possible, our site is structured and designed to maximise customer experience (and, hence, SEO), and our PPC and email activity is helpful and attractive to as many customers as possible.
We’re a business that is going places, and it’s certain that we’ll need to grow the marketing team across the group. With that, in time, progression, up to and including Marketing Director, may be open to you.
About you
You might have worked for a high-profile full-service agency or CV-pleasing Plc and now you’re looking to join an organisation which is on-the-up so that you can help them reach the next level. Whatever you’re doing now – falling asleep at the back of another client meeting, considering jumping out of the window whilst you await ‘sign-off’ for an absolute no-brainer of a project, spending 4 hours a day sweating on a train in your totally unnecessary shirt and tie whilst you contemplate whether you’re actually going to make any sort of difference when you get to work – you’re itching for ‘something else’. Well, this role isn’t just ‘something else’, it’s the antidote you’re looking for. The reason your feet are so itchy is because your raw passion and talent for all things ‘digital marketing’, your creative methods of problem solving, your sense of urgency, and your sense of fun all seem to be much less important to your current employer than the relative shininess of your shoes.
You want everything and everyone to just get out of your way and let you rip. You know this stuff, inside out, and you’re stymied at every turn. If you recognise all of this in yourself then we’re probably a match made in heaven. On the other hand, if you’re looking for an opportunity to ‘get into’ digital marketing, and only feel comfortable saying that you ‘have experience of’ PPC or SEO on your CV, then I’m afraid it won’t work out. Although we’re certain we can develop you in lots of ways, digital marketing expertise is not one of them. We’re looking for you to take us to school, hiring talent and implementing SaaS to fill opportunities based on supporting business cases as you go.
Requirements
Interested in applying?
You’re going to have to spend several hours in a room with people that know enough to spot genuine expertise, and also complete some written and technical challenges. Sounds gruelling, but the kind of person we’re looking for is confident in their ability and wants to work for the very best. To help us get to know the real you (and give us something more interesting to discuss at interview than just your CV), please answer the following questions in your cover letter. Good luck!
- What are you most excited about at the moment?
- Who do you admire, and why?
- Top 3 pet-peeves?
- Describe a good week at work.
- What are your favourite words of wisdom, or rules to adhere to (both professionally, and in life).
- Which websites do you visit most frequently?
- What apps do you use most?
- Do you have a party piece?
- When have you let yourself down recently? What did you do?
- What question would you add to this list?
