Chestibor, you proud, noble beast

The votes have been counted, the results are in, and we can now reveal the winning blend from the Bloggers’ Blend Competition. If you’re just tuning into this now and haven’t read our previous posts about the competition, allow us to fill you in…

We asked ten top whisky bloggers to create their own blends, using pipettes, measuring cylinders (and other scientific accoutrements) and a selection of malt and grain whiskies. The bloggers then sent their recipes to us, with the exact proportions of the whiskies they used, and we made up full-sized bottles of each. After creating tasting sets with samples of each of the 10 bloggers’ blends, we asked you, the public, to vote on which blend you liked the best. We also asked that you bear in mind the RRP for each finalised blend when deciding upon your favourite, as we’re firm believers in value for money!

Bloggers' Blend Set

After a little deliberation about which voting system to use (in the end we settled on AV), we can now reveal that the winning blend was Blend I (which had an RRP of £54.95 a bottle, and stood out with its Islay style!). It won by quite a big margin too, and we can also tell you that if we used First-Past-the-Post as our voting system, Blend I still would have won! Next we’ll work with the bloggers to work on the branding for the blend, so watch this space for more information…
