Master of Cocktails – The Widow’s Kiss

Master of Cocktails The Widow's Kiss

Well hello there cocktail fan. I nearly didn’t see you there. Fancy a drink? Then you’re in luck, as you’re just in time for another #MasterofCocktails.

This week we’re going to make a ‘Widow’s Kiss’ recipe from the excellent PDT Cocktail Book by Jim Meehan. If you haven’t got this tome in your library, I heartily suggest you amend that oversight. Look, I even gave you the Amazon link and everything. Get to it. Chop chop.

You’ll be needing these…

List of Ingredients

For our Widow’s Kiss, we’re swapping out the Applejack for a rather excellent single cask Somerset Cider Brandy:

So let’s start with that superb ingredient – 60ml.

Into a stirring glass, along with a handful of ice.

Next up – 7.5ml Bénédictine D.O.M. Liqueur:

Then 7.5ml of Yellow Chartreuse.

Finally, 2 shakes of Angostura Bitters.

Give it a good old stir – 30 seconds or so…

I can’t tell you how good this smells – even from a few feet away. Apple Brandy? Massively underused if you ask me…

Strain into a chilled coupette glass, and serve. No Garnish.

The Widow’s Kiss. A superb digestif, but so incredibly fresh due to the base spirit. Wonderful.

Enjoy!

Now, write down these ingredients in your copybooks, as you’ll need them for the next #MasterofCocktails.

Next week, you’ll be needing these…
Basil, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Cocchi Americano, Chapel Down Vintage Reserve Brut and a lemon.

Ben.
