In this week’s #MasterofCocktails we’re making what is probably the most abused drink in the history of all time: The Daiquiri.
It’s such a blisteringly simple drink when done correctly. Rum. Sugar. Lime. That’s all.
Now, there are some variations worth lauding (we’re going to do a few over the next couple of weeks), but the classic version is one that should be in everyone’s repertoire.
The recipe really couldn’t be simpler. Can you remember the following?
“Half.”
IF you can remember [half], you can make an excellent Daiquiri. Let’s see.
You’ll be needing these…
List of Ingredients
- 50ml Havana Club Añejo 3 Year Old
- 25ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 12.5ml Monin Sugar Syrup
First up, sling a coupette glass in the freezer.
Then measure out 50ml of rum. I’m using Havana Club 3yo Anejo Blanco.
Pop that into a boston shaker.
Now Lime juice. How much? Half. 25ml.
And Sugar Syrup. How much? ‘Harlf’. 12.5ml.
Pack the shaker with ice, and give it a hard shake for 30-40 seconds.
Finally, fine Strain into your chilled coupette.
The Daiquiri. An absolute classic. Refreshing, Strong, Delicious. What’s not to like?
Enjoy!
Just remember. Half.
Some of you have got the hang of it already:
