The Whiskey Wash’s 2025 awards

Founded in 2013, The Whiskey Wash has grown to become a leading voice in whiskey journalism. The platform was acquired in 2024 by whisky expert and Forbes Contributor Mark Littler and now boasts an extensive library of over 11,000 articles, including some from this very author

Its awards were informed by more than 300 independent reviews conducted throughout 2024. A total of 120 Scotch whiskies, 81 American whiskies, and 75 bourbons were tasted alongside selections from Ireland, Japan and other world regions. Every whisky considered was either released in 2024 or is available from the manufacturer as part of their core range or special releases.

Unlike many industry awards, The Whiskey Wash operates a strict no-fee competition format. The judging process employs a straightforward 10-point rating system designed to reflect real-world whiskey appreciation rather than overly technical analysis.

Nino Kilgore-Marchetti, founder and veteran reviewer of The Whiskey Wash, described the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 25th Anniversary Edition as “one of the most amazing whiskeys I’ve had the pleasure of trying over the years. Easily top five of all time.”

Meanwhile, for The Glengoyne 25 Year Old, he said: “It’s a classic sherry bomb style, which is an approach I always love when done well under a solid cask management program. For me, Scotch whisky doesn’t get any better than this”.
