Dramboree 2014: “July 4, 5, 6 – Scotland. Whisky. Fun.”
What more could you possibly need to know?!
Well, Dramboree is a fun and informal annual whisky weekend of the very highest order, now in its second year. Taking inspiration from Maltstock, Whisky Squad’s Jason B. Standing and The Great Whisky Company’s Jonny McMillan found themselves discussing a perfect UK-based whisky weekend a couple of years ago before it dawned on them that they were the exact people to make it happen! Hey presto – Dramboree was born, and after a highly successful first outing, this year promises to be even bigger and better!
Picturesque Scotland
To see what we got up to last year, you can revisit Part 1 and Part 2 of my ‘Executive’ Report – but to summarise: there were tasting sessions (including a world-exclusive Daftmill tasting with Francis Cuthbert plus sessions from Springbank and Mulberry Bank Auctions), a ‘behind the scenes’ distillery tour (at Aberfeldy), a huge selection of single malt whiskies brought along by the attendees to share with like minded people (the legendary whisky table), and a bloody awesome barbecue (courtesy of Master of Malt) all in a relaxed, friendly environment. It were proper good.
The whisky table!
This year, travel from Glasgow is also included as we head off to a site on Loch Lomond – they’re not giving everything away just yet, but there will be a special tour of Glengoyne, a headline tasting with Highland Park Global Brand Advocate Daryl Haldane and 2 other tastings throughout the weekend out of a choice of 4 (the idea being that these will be smaller, more intimate affairs). Oh, and a bloody awesome barbecue, of course (courtesy of Master of Malt)!
So how can we buy tickets to this amazing event, Jake? I hear you cry.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Sat 1st February on the Dramboree website. There are 50 places this year (up from 30 last year) and it’s just £190 per person – all in – including accommodation, whisky tasting workshops, coach and ferry transport, meals, your very own Dramboree tasting glass and more. Be quick though, as it’s sure to be popular!
This bit of fun could include you!
