Master of Cocktails The Naked Barista

Greetings cocktail-lovers. Who's up for a swift whisky cocktail then? The second #MasterofCocktails whisky cocktail in a row, no less. Is it you?

If it is indeed you, that's perfect, as that's what we're doing for this week's #MasterofCocktails!

This week we're making a drink I've named 'The Naked Barista'. The reasons will hopefully become clear as we go through the recipe.

New Product Range: Bitter Bastards

Bitter Bastards

So – cocktail bitters then. The salt, pepper, Worcestershire Sauce and Encona of the Cocktail world. Cocktail seasoning if you will.

This new, and tremendously exciting launch sees the phasing-out of the Master of Malt bitters range in favour of this new, improved and super-exciting range of cocktail ingredients. Why the change though?

Sit down children, and I shall tell you a story all about standardisation, Rapid-Maceration, the effects of Gravity on particle-suspension, oil-solubility and swearing:

Master of Cocktails - Espresso Martini

Master of Cocktails Espresso Martini

For this week's #MasterofCocktails we're having a go at a modern classic. An Espresso Martini. Now before we begin, we're going to start by getting a few silly preconceptions out of the way...

The biggest one is probably the ingredients. If anyone says that you need a coffee liqueur to make an espresso martini, chances are they're trying to sell you some coffee liqueur. Or have been paid by a Coffee Liqueur Brand.

The thing about coffee liqueur is that it's made of coffee, and alcohol. We're using incredibly fresh coffee for this, which means you're going to get more than enough coffee punch, and won't have to sacrifice any flavour (as larger, more complex flavour molecules tend to degrade over time). We're also using dry ice today. As detailed last week, you can get this by ordering from online stores that ship frozen.

Feis Ile 2012, Day 1

by Vincent L     27. May 2012 11:02

I woke up, and removed myself from bed with the cautiousness of a man who has just undergone complicated surgery.

Unbelievable. Despite my memory rendering the last few hours in similar detail to a five year old’s picture of the Sistine Chapel, I was all right. Praise be indeed!

I congratulated myself on my iron constitution. Today would be a day of winding Highland roads and tight schedules. Not a day to be under the weather.

Bushmills Whiskey Trip: Day Zero

by Ben Ellefsen     16. August 2011 09:43
Make It 2 Bushmills

Wouldn't usually write a blog post before I've been on a trip - sort of defeats the point really, but as I'm sat here in the departure lounge having legged it all the way to the gate (for reference, most people would probably interpret 'gate closing' as 'gate closing', and not 'nothing at all happening at gate except angry people sitting around wishing they'd had time to get a decent coffee from Costa'), I thought I'd pen a few lines on what the next dew days is all about. More...
