Pale Ale

Dating back to the early 18th century at least, Pale Ales are warm fermented beers made predominantly with pale malt. Although used interchangeably with Bitter or IPA by many brewers during much of the 20th century, the last thirty years or so have seen a resurgence of hoppy Pale Ales among craft brewers and beer fans, particularly in the USA. Whilst many of the most heavily hopped examples can be found on our India Pale Ale and American Pale Ale pages, here you’ll find some fine examples that fall between the cracks as well as some more rounded amber ales.
