Tactical Nuclear Penguin Bottling Note

First released as the world's strongest beer, this is a completely insane product from the equally bonkers chaps at BrewDog. This fantastical quaff is produced using intense cold, utilising a process called "chill and skim" (which hints at how it works!). The result of this is an Imperial Stout that weighs in at a whopping 32% abv. Of course, they didn't stop there. After it was brewed, they popped it into an Arran whisky cask for 8 months, before a further 8 months in a cask from a famous Islay distillery. The result... Tactical Nuclear Penguin - BrewDog's first double-casked beer!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Nutty, intense, with notes of smoke coming off fragrant foods, potpourri, sultanas and burnt toast.

Palate: Very, very malty and smoky, with an almost medicinal character. Syrupy notes of barrel char, molasses and black pepper.

Finish: Long, potent and full with mouth-coating coffee flavours.

BrewDog Tactical Nuclear Penguin (37.5cl) Reviews

Absolutely wonderful

Thick and full-bodied taste. This is an extremely strong beer, it should be enjoyed in small servings and with an air of aristocratic nonchalance. In exactly the same manner that you would enjoy a fine whisky.

Mad

Madness, sheer bloody madness.

Unique maybe, but not worth drinking.

Awful. Worst BrewDog, or indeed any beer by miles. It’s like thick potent coffee flavoured tar. Not pleasant.

Horrible but wonderful

If your coming here for a beer that tastes just like your average IPA, but is incredibly strong, Im sorry to announce that science is not there yet. However, if you want an experience unlike any other (as in, this isnt like any beer, wine, spirit, cider, anything), that will get you pissed and will be a laugh with mates, its a wonder.

Witches blood

Received as a gift so got involved for politeness sake.
Sweet Jesus. I've tasted some vile things in my time but this ranks and is rank!
If you opened a middle age witches veins surely this is what you would get!
Big fail from the boys who usually hit the mark.

Couldn't drink it

I got a bottle as a gift and poured about 2oz, and could not stand it. I have had Sam Adams Utopia and thought it was pretty good, but this taste like NyQuil and Vodka mixed together.

Lovely stuff

I sometimes have a glass of this as a chaser with a glass of Brew Dog Hardcore IPA. It is very nice and very distinctive.
