Amarillo Hopped Beer

A dual purpose hop with 8-11% alpha acids, designated VGXP01 cv, which in practice is most often used as a late kettle or dry hop imparting its floral and orange citrusy notes to American Pale Ales. Cascade and Centennial are possible substitutes.

Unusually, Amarillo hops are actually privately owned by Virgil Gamache Farms who also hold a trademark for the name having discovered the variety. As well as Pale Ales and IPAs, you may also find Amarillo being used in Porters, for example.
