The folks behind Hendrick's Gin have tried their hand at something a little different... Absinthe! The result of master distiller Leslie Gracie's experiments at the Hendrick's Gin Palace, the spirit boasts classic absinthe botanicals along the lines of star anise and wormword (among others), along with some botanicals that will be very familiar to Hendrick's Gin fans - namely rose and cucumber. It's bottled at 48% ABV, making it touch more approachable than some traditional absinthe expressions, and showcases the botanical balance within.
Bright, lively wormwood, vanilla, anise, caraway and citrus, with a whiff of orange blossom and rose giving it a floral edge.
Absolutely the most gorgeous absinthe gin I have ever tasted, in fact it’s the only one I have tasted but it’s just so delicious!! I agree with the last reviewer, it doesn’t fall into the pure absinthe category for me and I gave tasted many pure absinthe’s but as an absinthe gin it is unique and well worth a try as a unique gin offering
As an absinthe, I have to rate this a bit lower as it really doesn't taste like absinthe, but rather an absinthe flavoured spirit, mostly similar to gin. If it was marketed as and absinthe flavoured gin, it would hit that mark and I would actually rank it higher, but as a standalone absinthe really falls flat. It's interesting to use in cocktails with an aniseed undertone but if you like drinking absinthe you'll probably be disappointed
