A cask strength bottling from the Talisker distillery, bearing no age statement. This was named for the Isle of Skye sits on the line of latitude 57 Degrees North.
The nose is very pungent and full. Notes of sour citrus develop with rich peat smoke. Hints of peppered oak and notes sea spray pounding stones and a little kelp. The palate is thick and full. Creamy manuka honey and lemon juice, notes of peppered oak and spice, a little butter perhaps and plenty of dry wood. The finish is long with black pepper and dry oak.

This is fabulous. For an NAS malt to deliver such a sublime experience is as rare as scotch mist and scotch mist certainly appears in the glass immediately after adding a little water. Like. Huge nose and flavour on the palate and long finish. Simply astounding and right up there with the Ardbeg NAS offerings.

It's a good whisky but lacks a bit of quality compared to Ardbeg Uigaedail and Corryvreckan as it's in the same price category. You need a bit of water to this and that's not cause of the alcohol, you need water to open up the flavours.

I tried this on a rare trip to a fine dining establishment in Auld Reekie that has an extensive Whisky list. I was not disappointed. A truly exceptional malt with a rich, deep flavour that lives long in the palate. The only thing you will regret about buying a bottle of 57 degrees North is that you only bought one.

I really enjoyed this whisky. The nose is spicy, salty and becomes somewhat gluey. A very pleasant and robust nose, I like to just smell it for minutes on end. Palate is robust but less spicy, very smooth, one can easily drink this neat (no water). Very good.

Nice aroma and lasting taste. A man's scotch

Don't need any words - just taste it !

I was rather disappointed by this Talisker.Although being spicy and powerful and rather peaty, it lacks depth and the character of the 10yo. And it has a somewhat unbalanced finish.Besides it is massively overpriced for what you get.I am sorry, but at the end of the day I cannot really agree with all those enthusiastisch reviews. At least I would advise you to try before you buy.

This is a massive Talisker.Absolute perfection, and in spite of the fact that I normally avoid no age statement offerings, I will happily admit that this is my favourite Single Malt on the planet.Tarry, phenolic, joy!!I just love this distillery.
26th December 2015
I first tried this a number of years ago and instantly knew it was my favourite whisky. I love Talisker anyway but this one is the best of the best in my opinion and I'll continue to buy it as a special treat when I can justify the luxury!

I have waited twelve months to purchase my first bottle of 57 north and well worth the wait. I am a keen lover of smoky malts and this is beautiful yet light with a hint of sweetness leaving a comforting afterglow
2nd December 2015
Takes malt whisky to the level in my opinion, excellent.
18th November 2015
If you like Talisker (I mean, Talisker 10) then you might love this. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself. Is it worth twice the price? I dunno - but boy, this is a good whisky.
23rd October 2015
Out of all the malts I have tried this is my least favorite. It is very strong tasting and the after taste to me is offensive. I did describe what it tasted like to me but my review was taken down but I did not use any offensive language just honesty. So I have removed the description of the aftertaste and hopefully free speech will prevail this time. I will not be buying it again.

Forget Talisker Storm, Dark Storm, Skye and all the other rubbish NAS Taliskers. They are all poor but more expensive versions of the great 10 year old. However, this one is something different and if you are a Talisker fan you will love it.
5th August 2015
... in my opinion the ardbeg uigedail is better. I bought it because I am a huge talisker fan, it's good but the uigedail just has more flavor. And it's cheaper

Nose full of peat smoke, leather with citrus and cherry notes flickering around. Neat, the peppered peat literally makes a circle around the whole tongue. Palate not hugely complex, again pepper, peat and wood smoke, old ropes and a little iodine. Long finish with mainy pepper and wood (a little chili?). Awesome! That said, when you get a good bottle of the 10 year old at £25 at times, that is also pretty awesome and half the price. However, I don't think the 10 could ever ride the 57% alcohol wave and have the palate survive.

Like licking a bbq coal, once it has cooled of course, that had been soaked in pork chop and hot dog dripping. Sweet, citrusy, smokey and nearing the limits of earthly superlatives.

simply perfect. Best bottle i have tasted in a long time.
19th November 2014
I've always been a Talisker fan and this is one of the most stellar bottles to ever from from the distillery. Big, bold, beefy (I get huge bacon on the palate), and immensely satisfying. If you are wearing socks at the time, it will blow them off. But this dram rides the tidal wave of 57% alcohol content with exquisite finesse. Just wow.

This is a must for every whiskey drinker. Smooth with a very pleasant after burn. Thank you son.

An absolute stunning drink, one of if not the best in this price range. A must try for all Talisker fans

If you like Talisker, and If you like cask or near cask strength, this is simply amazing. Since I first tried Talisker, I've always proclaimed to my friends that Talisker is the most dangerous liquid on the planet. The 57 deg North is the MOST dangerous of all that I have tried (10yr, 18 yr, Port Ruighe, Distiller's 2001, bttl'd 2012.
28th January 2014
One of the best Taliskers out there.

I just bought a bottle from Lavinia in Paris, just got home and my first impression is WOW. At the store i was conflicted between buying Lagavulin vs Ron Zacapa rum vs this Talisker and im happy the whisky expert in the store recommended this one.
Incredible intense smokey flavor, combined with 57% alcohol ensures a flavor bomb that seems to go on and on and ...And all of this at only 60€ (bought online) rank it at the top of my "bang for my buck" list!
28th November 2013
Best Talisker I've had so far, beautiful finish that lingers and lingers
17th October 2013
One of my favorites always . Incredibly long finish . Must buy !

... forgot the rating...
10th September 2013
taste is always personal but some do not have taste at all... beautiful highclass stuff.
I love a good, strong oak/smoky/peat/pepper scotch. It needs to be bold and have a great finish. This is right up there. On a review recommendation I gave this one a shot :-) and bought a litre to boot. If you like the Laphroiag Quarter Cask you'll enjoy this one, too.
22nd January 2013
A buddy of mine gave me his last glass of this stuff and it was the best scotch I ever had. Unfortunately while looking for my cigar lighter I accidentally kicked the glass into the fire which erupted in a blaze of awesomeness that lit up my back yard. Regardless even though cut short it was very good and I highly recommend.
8th December 2012
I was fortunate enough to pick up a bottle of this for £42.50 (£20 under the rrp, wahoo!).Cracking malt this, absolutely a Talisker, so you know what you are getting. Thick mouthfeel with a sweetness in there somewhere and dairy (think cream/butter). Pepper kick on the back and nice long finish, a very well balanced dram. Worth it at full price, let alone the bargin I picked this up for. Would buy again.
19th November 2012
This is as good as the Talisker 10 in my opinion - despite the strength, it's actually gentler on the nose when sampled neat, but it becomes a peaty bruiser with a touch of water. It's a bit like getting 2 whiskies for the price of 1.
22nd June 2012
I wouldn't go so far as to use the internet to insult someone's intellect but it is definitely better than 1 1/2. With one or drops of water, it has an extremely bold, complex, daring flavour and a most pleasing length which allows the different tastes to develop on the pallet. Worth getting & a favorite of mine.
6th February 2012
Whoever rated this 1 1/2 stars is a moron. This is one of the finest malts to come in at a very reasonable price point I've tasted.
17th December 2011
More soft and round than usual, but still good :-)
