This is an astounding single cask whisky from the Isle of Arran distillery. It was distilled on the 8th August 1996 before a 16 year maturation in a first-fill sherry puncheon. We bottled it on the 11th December 2012 and there are 583 numbered cask-strength bottles available. Expect a wonderful mix of the classically zesty, malty Arran with more than a hint of sherry!
Nose: Huge notes of freshly cut fruit salad and baked apple. Thick toffee, oak and soft spices appear, with dried figs. Very complex and deep - a great deal coming through from the cask.
Palate: Sticky, rich palate entry. Corinth raisins and hints of milk chocolate atop a biscuity malt core, with a touch of tangy citrus. Lovely sherry backbone - this is an unctuous, fruity malt. A sprinkling of allspice and tropical fruit develop late palate.
Finish: Long and spicy. Hints of clove oil and walnut loaf. A dusting of cocoa perhaps.

The Master of Malt single casks do not have any chill filtration, or added colour. We would never release single casks that have been altered in that way. --The Chaps at Master of Malt

You don't see the complexity that this bottle offers at this price level very often. This is a sweet, spicy and fruity dram with a lot of flavor and a nice long finish. It's very drinkable despite the high ABV, too. Add a little water and it turns for the worse. Add some more and you'll find a winner. I scored it 89.Do I dare ask... What's the story regarding chill-filtration and colour when it comes to the MoM Single Casks?

You picked out a great cask here, and at £50 is a steal. Lots going on with this whisky and all of it good - a perfectly balanced, delicious dram
