Pellehaut Marcottes 2010
The grapes used for the Domaine De Pellehaut Les Marcottes are 70% Tannat and 30% Merlot, which come from the oldest plot in their vineyard. They say that while this plot does not give them many grapes, the ones that they do grow have lots of aromatic concentration. That's a pretty good trade-off, if you ask me. The 2010 vintage of Les Marcottes is cask-aged for 18 months.
Huge amounts of deep, dark red fruits on the nose, paired with aromatic hints of leather and oak. This leads to a rich palate of blackberries, plums and herbs, followed by a lingering finish which also features a good deal of herbal notes.
