A 40 year old vatting of seven sherry hogsheads, chosen by Douglas Campbell, the distillery manager at Tomatin.
Tomatin 40 Tasting Note
The nose is full-bodied and very rich. There are notes of Madeira and cooked fruits. Hints of marmalade and honey with notes of calves leather and unlit Montecristo Sublime. Notes of apple crumble and a touch of sherry; the oak is toasty and unleashes spice and ground almond. The palate is very thick and full. There is a silken quality to the delivery with sublime notes of dried fruits and apple crumble. The malmsey notes are beautifully supple with notes of waxy honey and almond oil. There are notes of fennel and hints of barley sugar. The finish is long and oily with a fruity richness.
