Glenlivet Master Bottling Note
A wonderful Glenlivet, launched for Travel Retail. This was launched in honor of Alan Winchester, who has been master distiller at the distillery since 2009. He created this whisky with European oak butts and first-fill American barrels as well as refill hoggies. Lovely stuff.
Okay for its price tag
I am a huge fan of Glenlivet with the 18 and 21 amongst my favourite Speyside drops. Unfortunately, this one cannot compare to eithre and would recommend if you are considering buying this bottle that you pay a little extra for the 18.

I bought two bottles of this great Scotch while travelling as well as a Glenfiddich 15 Years Old Solera Vat and a Glenfiddich 12 Years Old. While travelling, my wife broke one of the bottles and it happened to be the Glenfiddich 12 Y.O. (which I have drank a lot of due to the accessible price). Nowadays I only drink Single Malts (except with friends to get get drunk) and I usually do not like the idea of no age statements, but this turned out to be great! In fact, I have tried both Glenlivet 12 years old and the 15 years old (travel retail version, not the French Oak) and I must say that this is superior in all aspects. I am not a sommelier to say what flavours I can identify, but I know when I like something. I definitely recommend it if you find it while travelling and I am glad my wife broke the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old instead of one of these.

we are two old Single Malt enthusiasts sitting together and tasting a row of Glenlivets - the 12 - cask str 16 - and the master destillers reserve. The 16 and MDR both impress with smoothness and complexity - we salute from Lillesand, Norway!!
