Nose: The cognac casks have imparted an interesting fruit note. Ripe grapes and baked plums over the sweet vanilla.
Palate: More vanilla and it's very, very smooth. The grapes are here too with some toffee and mango. Towards the end there's a tasty, peppery spice, so perhaps a fair dose of rye in the mashbill.
Finish: Long and soft, with maraschino cherries and that peppery note too.
Overall: A great bourbon that's both interesting and disarmingly easy to drink.
